NIGEL Burnham has seen the future of folk and its name is Kate Young, alias Kate In The Kettle, so The Band Room promoter is bringing the future to the present at Low Mill, Farndale, near Kirkbymoorside, tomorrow night.
“Direct from the front line of experimental folk, demon fiddler Young is a musical whirlwind, lately seen contributing ferociously feisty violin and vocals to The Moulettes on their UK tour with Bellowhead,” says Nigel.
“Her debut album, Swimmings Of The Head, propels Young right to the front of the British folk scene, with its edgy, brooding songs suffused with Indian and Middle Eastern vibrations, Swedish Polska dance and and Erik Satie’s Trois Gnossiennes No. 1.”
Nessy Williamson will be the support act. Doors open at 7.30pm for the 8pm start; box office, 01751 432900.
