York Opera’s production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera Ruddigore stars Purpleman, a mime artist who has appeared in Stonegate, York, for four years painted entirely purple.
He will be on stage for the entire second act as a statue, approximately 45 minutes.
Purpleman, who only joined rehearsals three days ago to protect his identity, said he will be retiring from mime artistry and his role in Ruddigore will be his “final bow”. The play ends its run tomorrow and not today as stated in yesterday’s review. Tickets are available from York Theatre Royal box office on 01904 623568
