FROM one menopause to another: the national tour of Women On The Verge Of HRT opens at Harrogate Theatre next week.

Written by the Olivier Award-winning Marie Jones, this West End hit follows the escape route of Vera and Anna, best friends on the wrong side of 40, with marital problems and a shared love of Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell.

During a trip to Donegal to see their idol in concert, they face the realities of their lives: loveless marriages, husbands running off with younger women, and the prospect of being thrown on the sexual scrapheap.

Assisted by a handsome young waiter who looks and sounds the spit of their darling Daniel, Vera and Anna realise that life does not have to end when HRT begins. The lead roles go to Louise Jameson, last seen on BBC1 in Kay Mellor’s The Chase, and Louise Jameson, best known for television parts as Rosa Di Marco in EastEnders and Leela in Doctor Who.

Women On The Verge Of HRT will run at Harrogate Theatre from Tuesday to Saturday. Performances start at 7.30pm plus a 2.30pm Saturday matinee, and tickets can be booked on 01423 502116.
