AT a time when Tamla Motown’s 50th anniversary celebrations are in soulful flow, How Sweet It Is pays tribute to The Four Tops and The Temptations at the Grand Opera House, York, on Thursday at 7.30pm.

This touring show “recreates all the wonderful vibes and music that originated in Detroit in the 1950s, taking you on a musical journey through the golden Tamla Motown days of the 1960s and 1970s”.

On the Motown menu are Reach Out I’ll Be There, Walk Away Renee, Bernadette, I Can’t Help Myself, My Girl, Ain’t Too Proud To Beg and Get Ready, plus hits by Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Isley Brothers, The Jacksons, Stevie Wonder and Edwin Starr.

Vocalists and trained dancers Michael, Martell, Geo and Jordan will be backed in this two-hour show by The Peter Brent Orchestra, an eight-piece band with four horn players.
