BEV Jones's Northern Musical Theatre Company Youth Section will stage Les Miserables School Edition at the Grand Opera House, York, from July 3 to 7, under special licence from Cameron Mackintosh.

Boublil and Schonberg's epic musical will be performed by a cast of 55 students, aged mainly 15 to 19 apart from the young principal parts, drawn from York to Pocklington, Leeds to Knaresborough, Selby to Wakefield, Driffield to Harrogate.

They have been rehearsing since January with Bev, who will conduct an 18-piece orchestra throughout the performance week.

"This show must have the strength and passion that can only be achieved with a full orchestral sound, " he says.

"Our entire cast, with their vitality and enthusiasm are a credit to the youth of today.

Our principals could swap roles with any of the cast playing at The Queen's Theatre in London."

Evening performances will start at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

"If you have seen this wonderful show before, you won't be disappointed. If you haven't, then let this be a unique introduction to the world of musical theatre, " says Bev.

Tickets cost £12 to £18 on 0870 606 3595.
