TALL Stories' family show Room On The Broom will fly into the Grand Opera House, York, on January 26 and 27, delivering a witch, her cat, a dragon, a few friendly animals and more besides.

This magical musical adaptation of the book by Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson and German illustrator Axel Scheffler will take the audience aboard a magnificent broom for an adventure in flight that is touring Britain after a West End run.

The witch and her cat are flying on their broomstick when a storm blows the witch’s hat, bow and wand into the night. They need the help of a daft dog, a beautiful bird and a friendly frog to retrieve her belongings, but this broomstick is not designed to carry five and it snaps in two. When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch?

The 55-minute show is aimed at children aged three to eight and features expect puppetry, sing-a-long songs and fun for everyone, directed by Olivia Jacobs with creative producer Toby Mitchell, co-founders of Tall Stories.

The cast comprises Morag Cross as the Witch; Emma MacLennan, Cat; David Garrud, Dog/Frog; Sam Donovan, Bird/Dragon, and Owen Guerin, understudy. Design is by Morgan Large; lighting design by James Whiteside; puppet design by Yvonne Stone and music and music design by Jon Fiber and Andy Shaw of Shock Productions.
