Rhyl Music Club’s International Concert Series returns tonight with an opportunity to witness the "prodigious" talent of one of North Wales' rising stars.

One of the most remarkable, accomplished, and musically mature young pianists rapidly making a name form themselves in Wales and abroad, Luke Williams will take to the stage at Rhyl Town Hall at 7.30pm.

Originally of Wrexham, the Royal Northern College of Music student Williams began playing the piano at just five years old, making his debut recital at the Wrexham Arts Centre at 10, and since then he has performed all over Britain as well as in Italy, Austria, Spain, Majorca and Slovenia.

While touring the continent Williams' effortless skill has earned him armfuls of awards including the second prize and Mompou prize at the prestigious Maria Canals International Piano Competition as well as first at the Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition earlier this year, the "Aci Bertoncelj" International Piano Competition, in "Section A" Chopin-Roma International Piano Competition, and third prize in the Manchester International Concerto Competition, UK.

He was also the recipient of the 16-19 'Blue Ribbon' Instrumental Award at the National Eisteddfod in Wales.

Leslie Howard, concert pianist, composer and musicologist, said: “Luke Jones allows the listener to take his prodigious technique for granted. He plunges straight to the intellectual and emotional heart of the music. The consequences are thrilling and fulfilling.”

To catch Williams' on his ascendancy, head to Rhyl Town Hall tonight at 7.30. Tickets are £12. To book tickets, visit rhylmusic.com or telephone 01745 561006.
