You could be forgiven for thinking that Macedonian Eurovision contestant Kaliopi was feeling a bit hungry on stage.

The singer performed her song Dona – but to anglophone ears, it sounded a lot like she fancied a doner kebab. So much so that she kept on wailing for one.

Plenty of people noticed the similarity:

Kaliopi would be certainly at home in a kebab shop in the UK.

It even got a bit emotional.

Kebabs sure are a vote-winner…

…Especially for one voter, who noticed a similarity to TV presenter Lorraine Kelly.

It made one viewer very hungry.

So was it really about doner kebabs? In fact, the lyrics translate like so:

Dona, Dona, Dona, Dona, Dona
Look at me
And smile for me
Dona, Dona, Dona, Dona
My force, light, glow
You make me strong, you know, o Dona,
Believe
Believe in me
