The singing competition we all know and love returned to our screens for another entertaining bout of auditions, as aspiring singers took to the stage to wow the new and improved judging panel.

As expected, not everyone managed to gather enough yeses to make it through to the next stage, but among the lucky handful that did were an Olly Murs lookalike and a rather quirky girlband…

Jamie Benkert was first to grace the screens and before he even had a chance to open his mouth, the judges noticed something suspiciously familiar about Jamie’s face. Where could we have possibly seen that face before?

That’s right, the hopeful looked like a spitting image of X Factor presenter Olly Murs – but not only did Jamie look like Olly, he sounded a bit like him too.

“It’s like you’ve been watching Olly for years, we’re going to have to un-Olly you,” Simon Cowell said, after Jamie’s first performance, requesting he have a go at a second song instead.

The 24-year-old managed to impress a little more with his next tune and won three passes onto the next stage.

Sassy girlband Alien were the next to triumph on the big stage with a punchy rendition of Black Eyed Peas’ Pump It, that pulled all four judges out of their seats into a standing ovation.

“With all of your distinctive characteristics, every single female from all over the world will be able to relate to you – that’s what I’m talking about!” Rita Ora said.

The judges (and viewers at home alike) were soon treated to a sight for sore eyes in the form of Simon Lynch, from the a little place called the Isle of Man.

“Where’s that, is it near the Isle of Wight?” Rita asked, to our absolute amazement.

After the major face-palm moment, it was Simon’s turn to steal the limelight, singing Beyonce’s If I Were a Boy.

“That was fantastic. You’ve reminded me what singing is all about. It was perfect. I see great potential in you,” said Simon, and the rest of the judging panel agreed as enthusiastic as the audience.

And it wasn’t just the aspiring singer’s voice that stole our hearts (and our votes), no one could deny Simon looked a little like everyone’s favourite vampire…

Singer and songwriter Stephanie McCourt was next to step in front of the judges, before confessing confidence issues due to knockbacks she’d received during her career.

Nevertheless she took her chances with Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off, which was interrupted by Simon’s powerful index finger, asking she sang another song – and it was Ella Fitzgerald’s soulful Summertime.

“I didn’t like the Taylor Swift song, but Summertime was beautiful – you’ve got a really beautiful tone in your voice,” Cheryl Fernandez-Versini said.

Simon added: “I don’t know who the idiots are who have knocked you back, because I think you’re 100% authentic.”

And with that, Stephanie waltzed off the stage with four yeses.

Last but not least to conquer their audition was Bupsi, who put on a rather risque show to Tina Turner’s Rock Me Baby, after Simon asked her for a “really nasty” performance.

There was raunchy dancing, there was a bit of table-crawling and it was all topped off as she fell into a drop split, to the amazement of the judges.

Needless to say Bupsi, who had an incredible voice as well as the moves, received a standing ovation from the judges as sailed through to the next round.
