Channel 4′s new documentary Extraordinary Births was a bit of an eye opener to say the least.
Here’s what we learned.
1. A ‘lotus birth’ means that the cord and placenta stay attached to the baby until it falls off. So you might have to “put it on a stool” or “carry it in your handbag”.
2. You can preserve the placenta with some salt.
3. It’s possible to have an actual six pack on top of a pregnant belly. Even at seven months pregnant.
4. The calming sounds of a didgeridoo can help you have a pain-free ‘orgasmic birth’ (the jury is still out on that one).
5. A ‘dolphin assisted birth’ is a thing.
6. And so is not having ANY scans during the pregnancy because of the effect they might have on the child.
7. Dolphins will probably prioritise their hunting time over assisting a birth.
Ok that one’s probably not much of a surprise.
