5 Seconds Of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford has revealed his fears of losing his sight, after his hair caught on fire on stage.
The 19-year-old Australian singer sustained burns to his face after he was hit by a jet of flames on a pyrotechnic display, as the band performed a show in Wembley, London.
“It was so scary. I walked into an open flame,” he told The Sun.
“It was huge and Calum (Hood) got burned as well. At first I couldn’t open my eyes. I thought I’d lost my sight.”
He added: “Getting back on the stage the next day was weird. I had this big, ugly bandage on my face. I didn’t like that. It wasn’t the best show I played.”
Mike, who has been touring with One Direction with his bandmates Calum, Luke Hemmings and Ashton Irwin, will put his foot down over fancy stage displays in future, saying: “There will be no more pyro. I’m done.”
The foursome have been writing for their second album, which will be the follow-up to their 2014 debut.
Luke said: “This album is so personal. We’re experiencing time to breathe. It was a time to reflect while we spent three months in a house in LA writing.”
