Kevin Spacey has revealed he and Robin Wright share a lot of laughs together on the set of House Of Cards.
Their characters Frank and Claire Underwood may be weighed down by the pressures of their powerful positions and focused on getting what they want, by any means, in the dark political drama. But Kevin insisted between takes they find a lot of light relief.
He said: “We’ve known each other for more than 20 years. We’ve had one other opportunity to work together, on a film called Hurlyburly, and we didn’t have that much to do together in that film.
“But there’s a trust and an ease and an affection that we have for each other and for the work – and there’s a tremendous amount of giggles that happen between us. Because we like to have a really good time.
“It just continues to be a very easy experience with her.”
Robin has now directed three episodes of the show and Kevin is happy to take direction from her.
He said: “She’s fantastic. She knows that she wants, she gets what she wants and it’s a role that even though at the very beginning when she was just prepping to do one in season two, she was so nervous.
“And then the day came, the first day and she just slipped into that thing and knew exactly what to do. She was like, boom, boom and I was like, ‘Whoah look at you girl.’
“And she loves it, I think she might confess she loves it more than acting.
“She’s been incredibly efficient with me when she’s been directing and I’ve really liked the episodes she’s done. It’s a good fit for her.”
