SCOTTISH siblings The Proclaimers will play the Grand Opera House, York, on Monday, October 22 in the year when they celebrate the silver jubilee of their debut album This Is The Story with a six-week autumn tour.

Edinburgh twins Craig and Charlie Reid also will be showcasing their ninth studio album, Like Comedy, set for release on May 7 on their new label, Cooking Vinyl.

After coming off the road following their 95-date world tour that spanned 2009 and 2010, the bespectacled brothers spent a year writing new material, subsequently recording the album in Bath last autumn with producer Steve Evans. Craig and Charlie have carved a distinctive niche with their collision of pop, folk, new wave and punk, bringing an emotional honesty, political fire, caustic wit and terrace-anthem raucousness to their impassioned songs and live shows.

This year, their 28-date tour will be preceded by a summer of festival appearances, including headlining the Hebridean and Big Tent festivals in Scotland and another headline slot at the Cambridge Folk Festival.

October’s audience in York can expect to hear such classic Proclamations as Sunshine On Leith, (I’m Gonna Be) 500 Miles, Letter From America, I'm On My Way and Let’s Get Married.

The Proclaimers last played the Grand Opera House in December 2005. Tickets for their return there after seven years are on sale on 0844 871 3024 or atgtickets.com/york
