YORK cyclist Joe Richardson will launch his bike ride for the Huntington's Disease Association with a charity gig in City Screen’s Basement bar in York next Friday (March 16).

Joe, who works at the Coney Street cinema, will take on the challenge of cycling in the 500k London to Paris ride in August.

The 8pm fund-raiser will be headlined by We Could Be Astronauts, with support from fellow York band The Littlemores and reggae/funk six-piece Montego Bay, who will be showcasing their debut album, Deputy Dean Decibel.

“It's great that some of the best bands that York has to offer are coming to play for the charity next Friday,” says Joe. “With Montego Bay kicking the event off with a funk-driven set and The Littlemores following up with some distinctive Yorkshire indie, We Could Be Astronauts will provide the icing on the cake for what will be a fun night out for a great cause.”

Further fund-raising events will be announced shortly, including a night of comedy with “top-named comedians”, presented in association with The Hyena Lounge Comedy Club.

Tickets cost £5 in person from the City Screen box office or online at picturehouses.co.uk/york
