INTERNATIONAL soprano Lynne Dawson is holding a singing and performance masterclass at St Olave's Church, Marygate, York, tomorrow at 7pm.

Arranged by the North East Yorkshire Area of the Royal School of Church Music, Find Your Voice takes the form of a mini-recital and master class for six individuals and ensembles.

Lynne, of Tollerton, is best known for her performance of Verdi's Libera Me at the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales. Her career combines concerts, recitals, opera and frequent recordings.

Accompaniment will be provided by Simon Wright, conductor of the York Guildhall Orchestra and Leeds Festival Chorus.

Among the masterclass participants are Joey Howard, Laura Attridge and Clare Steele-King. Treble Joey, a 13-year-old pupil at Bootham School, sang in St Olave's Church choir before becoming a chorister at York Minster from 2003 to 2006. He performed the role of Pope Clement VI as a child in the world premiere of Nicola LeFanu's chamber opera Light Passing, commissioned by BBC Radio 3 in 2004, and sang in the BBC4 programme Castrato in this year's series of The Century That Made Us.

Soprano Laura has finished her A-levels at Bootham School and is on a gap year before studying English at Newcastle University. She sings with the Chapter House Choir in York and has been a member of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain for four years.

Soprano Clare, who is in her 30s, is a mother-of-two and a part-time plant biologist at the University of York. She sings with the Ebor Singers and studies singing with Yvonne Seymour.
