“YORK we have come here to give you rock and roll! Are you ready?”

So screeched the lead singer to a venue packed to the rafters with black-clad rockers and the crowd were only too happy to give in to the request.

The Northern Irish rockers were in good spirits as they enthusiastically turned the volume up to 11 and performed a set which was a mix of new songs and old crowd-pleasers.

Although their third studio album Revival was only released at the beginning of the month there were one or two fans down at the front who could already sing all of the words.

The Answer wear their influences firmly pinned to their sleeves, from Led Zeppelin to The Black Crows and Free, which is both a positive and a negative.

On one hand their own songs show promise but they never quite deliver in the hook, such as new song Vida (I Want You). However their were highlights, such as the stripped down version of Caught on the River Bed, which they had never performed before the Duchess gig.

If you want a night of fun and rowdy rock and roll The Answer give you all that and more but if you are looking for the next big breakthrough act you may be disappointed.
