Cansei de Ser Sexy, or CSS for short, give a new meaning to the term "get a Brazilian" in York on Monday.

Using a name that translates as "tired of being sexy", this all-female Sao Paulo sextet surfs the new wave of Brazilian electro-punk.

"They marry brash Tokyo street sassiness and favela chic to loose, stripped-back beats, angular guitars, punchy synths and, er, basic programming," reveals Fibbers boss Tim Hornsby.

"Six women, including the fantastically-named half-Japanese singer Lovefoxx, produce pop at turns catchy and clumsy, cheeky and subversive. It's Hot Chip covering The Slits trying to update The Fall, armed with cheap synthesisers and catalogue guitars, fronted by Ladytron's wayward little sister. Pretension? Absent. Friction? Probable."

Please note, this gig has been brought forward one day; admission costs £5 in advance, £6 on the door, and original tickets are still valid.
