MENDELSSOHN considered his overture to The Fair Melusine to be his finest work.
Hear why tomorrow night when York Symphony Orchestra performs a piece that alternates between the beauty of calm water and fairytale terrors and woes.
Pianist Alexandra Dariescu first played with the orchestra in 2008, when she was the soloist for the Grieg Concerto, and this weekend she returns to play Scriabin’s Piano Concerto in F sharp minor.
The 8pm programme at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, University of York, also features Dvorak’s Symphony No 6 in D.
Tickets are available on 01904 627900 or from orchestra members or on the door.
