YORK pianist Sarah Beth Briggs will celebrate the music of Chopin and Schumann, both born in 1810, in Wednesday’s recital at the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, University of York.
Sarah will play Schumann’s Papillons, Arabeske and Kinderszenen, complemented by Chopin’s Fantasy in F minor, Scherzo No 3 in C sharp minor, Barcarolle, Ballade in A flat and Ballade in F minor.
Sarah gained international recognition as joint winner of the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg. Earlier, she became one of the youngest finalists in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, going on to make her London concerto debut at the age of 12. Today, recitals, concerto performances and chamber music ensembles take her to the United States and mainland Europe, while in Yorkshire she continues to perform and teach.
