A CHOIR which aims to offer a “modern, eclectic mix of style and vitality” has its first concert in York tomorrow night.

The members of Millegro will be singing at St Olave’s Church, Marygate, York, at 8pm, performing music from Vivaldi to Duke Ellington.

York’s newest contemporary choir is made up of members of the local community, some of whom have never before performed in a choir. The repertoire runs from jazz standards, across religious choral music and includes modern arrangements of traditional tunes.

Anyone wishing to join is welcome to attend the weekly rehearsal at St Olave’s Church Hall, Marygate Lane, every Monday, from 7.15pm to 9.15pm. Adults of all ages are welcome, no experience is necessary and no audition is required.

Tickets for tomorrow’s concert cost £3 and will be available on the door. All proceeds will go to York Against Cancer.
