RYEDALE singer-songwriter Em Whitfield Brooks is teaming up with Newcastle singer-songwriters Beccy Owen and Liz Corney at Helmsley Arts Centre tonight.
These three met, and still work together, at The Sage in Gateshead. Em has sung with Beccy as The Chanterelles and will perform solo and with Beccy at this gig.
Beccy, who supported folk favourites Bellowhead on their latest tour, has a large underground following in the North East and beyond. Her second album, Down With Gravity, features Barnsley folk singer Kate Rusby.
Tonight’s 7.30pm concert will mark the debut of Liz Corney’s new three-piece band, Icene. Tickets cost £7, concessions £6, on 01439 771700.
