DO you remember funky rock band The Summits appealing to the people of York to keep them in the national talent competition, Last Band Standing? Your reward comes tomorrow.

Based on an internet poll, the competition saw 700 to 800 bands battling to win the opportunity of working with former Primal Scream producer George Shilling,.

To reach the second stage of the competition, bands needed to maintain a top-ten position.

At the time of their plea to The Press to encourage readers to vote for them, The Summits were hovering in 17th place with their track Love Train. They agreed to perform a live gig in York to thank all those who supported them if they made it to the top ten.

Unfortunately, when the poll closed they ended in an honourable 16th place. However, despite falling short, The Summits have agreed to continue with the free gig as a way of thanks for all their support.

Tomorrow, they will be performing at The Melbourne pub, in Fulford, as part of the launch of the Bourne Live evening.
