SWEDISH roots trio Baskery will play their first headline Yorkshire show in Leeds the day after they release their debut album, Fall Among Thieves, on Glitterhouse Records on January 26.

Sisters Greta, Stella and Sunniva Bondesson will open their tour with two performances at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow on January 23 and 24 before journeying south for a London gig on January 25, only to head back north to Leeds Brudenell Social Club on January 27. Great planning! A further Yorkshire date follows at the Sheffield Boardwalk on January 29.

Baskery first caused a stir when supporting Seth Lakeman last year with their passion for old-time country, vibrant rockabilly and raucous roots, a winning combination that meshes Johnny Cash and The Carter Family with modern-day indie spirit.

Singing three-part harmonies, playing acoustic guitar, six-stringed banjo, dobro, slide and upright bass, the sisters from Stockholm create originals performed with fun-loving recklessness, as can be heard first on their debut single, One Horse Down, from next week.
