NORTH Yorkshire band The Conspirators have signed to London label Transcend Records and will record their new single this month with original Fairport Convention singer Judy Dyble.

Judy will share vocals with Conspirators vocalist Genevieve Parker on a new rendition of Fairport's One Sure Thing, part of a double A-side with a Conspirators original, yet to be decided although Funny is the most likely choice.

"This is going to be really fun, " says Judy.

"Genevieve has a fabulous voice and I've really enjoyed listening to the samples on the Conspirators website."

Looking forward to meeting up with Judy, Laura Goodacre, the band's drummer from York, says: "We're very excited with it all to have the opportunity to work with a singing legend.

"We've worked hard over the past year to get where we are, but we are very grateful to our loyal friends who have supported us at our gigs this year."

Laura and Genevieve, from Bedale, are joined in The Conspirators line-up by John Gillies, from Bedale, on rhythm guitar and vocals, Mike Cinnamond, from Stockton, on bass guitar, and Darren Banner, from Darlington, on lead guitar.

The Bedale-based indie rock band enjoyed a number one hit in the American independent chart earlier this year with Turning Green.

The new single will be released in early January 2008 on CD and download formats.

Upcoming gigs include Kings Head, Bedale, on October 12; New County Arms, Northallerton, November 2; The Arc, Stockton, December 7.
