THE soul spirit of York's adopted son, the late impresario David Gest, will live on as David Gest's Soul Legends reunite for The Legacy Tour, calling in at York Barbican on March 2 and Hull City Hall on March 13.

Gest had staged his soul revival shows for a decade, and in the wake of his death in April 2016, the David Gest Foundation was set up to raise money for causes close to his heart by continuing the retro concerts, much to the delight of foundation patron Dionne Warwick.

"I have been part of David's tours, and as I look at the incredible line-up of talent that will be coming to 16 cities in the UK to dazzle you, I know a good time will be had by all," says the East Orange soul diva. "Get your tickets now for a major musical treat."

Warwick will not be appearing in the March soul revue shows, hosted by Pearly Gates of the Flirtations, but the line-up does boast Bradford's Kiki Dee, who has her place in pop history as first British female singer to sign to Motown's Tamla Records label in the motor city of Detroit.

Taking part too will be Mary Wilson, founding member of The Supremes; Dorothy Moore; Sheila Ferguson, from The Three Degrees; Leee John, of Imagination; Freda Payne; Fern Kinney; Junior Giscombe and GC Cameron, of The Spinners and formerly of The Temptations.
