THE 60th anniversary of York’s Annual Community Carol Concert will be celebrated at York Barbican on Sunday at 2.30pm.

As of Monday night, 1,250 tickets had sold for this Diamond Jubilee event with only 150 still available on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person from the Barbican box office.

Taking parts will be York Railway Institute Band; York Civic Youth Choir; York Musical Theatre Company; Cansing!, the City of York Council staff choir; Joanne and Angelina Warburton and the Steve Cassidy Band. The master of ceremonies will be the Reverend Andrew Foster.

Although chairman John Warburton has handed over his role of musical director to Mike Pratt, John still will be involved for the 39th and final time on this special anniversary occasion.

Last year he announced his intention to "go out with a bang" by making the Diamond Jubilee celebration a fitting finale, and he will do so by taking to the rostrum just before the final carol to bring the curtain down on his long association with the carol concert audience.

Proceeds from Sunday's concert will go to the Lord Mayor and Sheriff of York’s Christmas Cheer Fund and York Mind, The Press Community Appeal's chosen charity for 2017.
