CHRISTMAS Swing And Song with the Sam Johnson Big Band will raise funds for York Against Cancer at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, York, on Saturday (December 2).

After five sold-out shows for York Swings Against Cancer at the JoRo, Sam's band and guest singers will put you into a festive frame of mind with Christmas carols and Christmas classics, all given the big band treatment.

Among the guest singers will be York musical theatre actress Jo Theaker, who says: "Please come and join our festive evening of Christmas favourites that really swing! A fabulous family show! If you've ever been to any of the York Swings Against Cancer shows, or more recently York Musicals Against Cancer, you will know they're a real hit and, to top it off, the Sam Johnsons Big Band will be accompanying our wonderful local talented singers.

"It's for a wonderful cause, York Against Cancer, that is a joy to support. Personally, I've been involved from the beginning of these wonderful shows and it's always an absolute pleasure. Christmas Swing And Song is full of everyone's favourite classics and a few good old-fashioned swing songs too. It's a hearty 12 days of Christmas the audience can sing along with and there'll be a good old raffle too."

All profits will go to York Against Cancer, a charity that supports the York community. Tickets for the 7.30pm show cost £15 on 01904 501935 or at josephrowntreetheatre.co.uk.

"It's a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit while supporting a great charity," says Jo. "So buy your ticket, get your Santa hat and tinsel ready and be ready to sing, clap your hands and wiggle along to an evening of great music."
