PRIMA Vox, York’s new chamber choir, will give their debut concert at St Helen’s Church, St Helen’s Square, York, on April 13 under the direction of Ewa Salecka.
This intimate evening of sacred and secular music also will feature a visiting University Chamber Choir, from Zielona Gora in Ewa’s home country of Poland.
The 7.30pm to 9.15pm programme will include works by Esenvalds, Szopinski, Lotti, Vivaldi, Mozart and Eastern European folk and spirituals, with Karol Schmidt on piano, and the guest soloist will be mezzo soprano Bogumila Tarasiewicz.
Prima Vox formed in February and its members are drawn from Prima Vocal Ensemble and Millegro, the York choirs run by Ewa, the new group’s founder and director. She is familiar to York audiences from introducing refreshing choral programmes of a cappella and accompanied choral music from the vast modern repertoire.
Tickets are selling fast at £7, under 16s free, on 07809 401164 or via email to prima@gemmusic.co.uk, and although they will be available on the door from 7pm, pre-booking is advised.
Wine and refreshments will be on sale in the interval. For more news and concert information, follow facebook.com/primavox
