THE Skapones will bring their version of all the 2-Tone & British ska classics – and other oddities– to the Spread Eagle in Walmgate,York, for a free gig tomorrow night.
"The Skapones are a new ska/2-Tone revue band based in the Tees Valley, featuring members past and present from The G Men, The Ska Beats, Major Accident and The Matics, along with the 'UK's number one tribute to Elton John' on keyboards," says vocalist and Ska musicologist Paul "Willo" Williams.
"The seven-piece ensemble got together to play a music that we all love, and the chaps intend to perform a selection of 2-Tone anthems and other foot-stomping tunes with the objective of making you dance and smile."
Tomorrow's event will run from 8pm to 1am and will be a March Of The Mods awareness evening for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The Skapones will play two sets for "added enjoyment", complemented by DJ Brian Walker's selection of old-school ska and reggae.
Looking ahead, The Skapones will play with Specials lead guitarist Roddy Radiation at the Longland Club in Middlesbrough on April 3 next year. For more information on the band, visit theskapones.co.uk
