TICKETS for York’s new live music outdoor gathering, the Apollo Festival on June 29, will not be available on the day.

Sales for this ticket-only event in the York Sports Club grounds at Clifton Park, Shipton Road, will close on June 24

“The line-up is proving to be the best showcase of local talent the city has seen in years,” says organiser Stuart Kelly, who has signed up former Seahorses singer Chris Helme; We Could Be Astronauts; Boss Caine; David Ward Maclean; Littlemores; Montego Bay; FUNKtion; The Young Minds; Andy Doonan; Kate Lohan & Daniel Bowater; Lauren Varley; Asio’s Eyes; Hayley Gaftarnick; and Barcode Zebra.

“Plus we’ll have two of the biggest and best tribute bands around, Oasish and Kazabian, both nationally acclaimed for their performances. With a main stage and an acoustic stage, no matter what your music tastes, the Apollo has something for you.

“But that’s not all. York is known for its family feel and we’re making sure there’s something for everybody, so no matter what age you are, you’re sure to have a blast. Our added attractions now include a full fun fair, stalls aplenty, a beer tent, cocktail bar and Pimm’s bar, and even an open-air theatre display.”

The Apollo Festival will raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

“With the wonderful support already shown from York businesses, and tickets for the event flying out the door, we hope to raise some serious cash,” says Stuart.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support the City of York has shown us in helping us build the Apollo into one of the biggest and best festivals around. The list of music acts just keeps growing and with all profits going to such a great cause, it’s going to be a superb day out.”

The Apollo Festival will run from 11am to 9pm. Tickets are on sale at £10 at York Sports Club, Thomas’s Bar, The Mount pub, The Ainsty and Evil Eye Lounge or online at ticketsellers.com
