Not quite worth the £100 online traders were asking for, but a band well worth checking out when they play on their early 2007 arena tour.

In all fairness to this well-styled Las Vegas indie quartet, the hype surrounding the release of their second album, Sam's Town, was almost impossible to live up to.

After the phenomenal success of debut release Hot Fuss, The Killers became unlikely world-beaters, taking on all- comers, and delighting audiences across Europe with their accessible blend of pop synths and indie riffs.

But on the release of the follow-up record, fans were snapping up gig tickets online for up to £200 a pair.

So after huge performances for Radio One at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom and for the MTV Awards in Denmark, frontman Brandon Flowers and his men touched down in Hull.

Decked out in a snappy James Bond-esque tuxedo, the star of the show wasn't afraid to rip into the new album from the word go, reeling off the title track, the Enterlude, and anthemic hit single When You Were Young, in ten blistering minutes of explosive drama.

And, if that wasn't impressive enough, singer/keyboard player Flowers, guitarist Dave Keuning, bass guitar player Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr thrilled the packed arena with Killers' classics, like Somebody Told Me, and the superbly atmospheric Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine.

It looked like the stars of the show would peak too easily when the euphoric crowd was struck with the biggest hit to date, Mr Brightside - easily the evening's highlight.

But encore offerings of Glorious Indie Rock & Roll and fans' sing-a-long favourite All These Things That I've Done ensured the tempo didn't drop, before the end of what was a decent night of pop entertainment.
