York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir was on song winning the male voice class at the Don Valley Music Festival at the Sir Thomas Wharton Community College in Doncaster.
Choir spokesman Colin Hockridge said: “We were delighted with our win as this was the first time we had entered this competition.”
The choir is hoping for more success at the Eskdale Festival in Whitby, on April 13, when it will compete in five classes with a wide range of musical styles from sea shanties to show songs and pop classics to psalms.
