WOW – The Show introduces Dutch singer, dancer and pianist Maaike Breijman in the role of Kate Bush in a tribute show with 20 songs and 17 costume changes at the Grand Opera House, York, on March 7.

Billed as “A Celebration of the Music & Artistry of Kate Bush”, it will recreate Kate’s one and only concert tour in 1979.

Tour publicist Simon Blackmore said: “It’s a slightly bonkers but brilliant concept by people who are absolute Kate Bush fanatics – and let’s face it, this is about as close as you’re ever going to get to seeing the real thing these days.”

Maaike, 36, will sing Bush’s greatest songs and perform dance routines with a full troupe of dancers and musicians plus a state-of-the-art light and video show.

Bush’s 1979 tour opened in Liverpool and finished in London, as will Wow’s debut tour.

“Kate’s fans have waited more than 30 years to see what we believe will be the next best thing to the real thing,” said producer Spike Beecham. “It seems only fitting to launch and end the show in the same cities.”

Maaike said she was drawn to Bush for various reasons. “Not only do I love her songs musically, but each and every single one of her songs tells a story, either humorous or cruel or witty or intelligent, and I love bringing these stories to life.”

Tickets for the 7.30pm show are on sale on 0844 871 3024 or atgtickets.com/york
