THINK Bigger, the latest album project from songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, actor, composer, record producer and film-maker Cosmo Jarvis, is about to become bigger.

On March 4, 25th Frame Productions will release a special edition containing not only last year’s album but also his debut film The Naughty Room and a bonus CD of the soundtrack.

Already picking up celebrity admirers such as Stephen Fry, Kylie Minogue and Brian Eno from his diverse exploits, polymath Cosmo will be demonstrating another of his skills this month as a live musician and front man, showcasing Think Bigger and tracks from his two earlier albums.

Last night in Manchester, he opened a 13-date tour that brings him to Fibbers in York tomorrow, Hull’s New Adelphi Club in Hull on Sunday and the Cockpit in Leeds on February 28.

He displays remarkable prowess on myriad instruments on record – from cello to keyboards, banjo to double bass, guitar to percussion – but will be touring with a band.

“Yeah sure, whatever is demanded,” says Cosmo the realist. “But one day I’ll tour solo when I can get a decent keyboard and have a crowd that will sit there for a three-hour set, but at the moment that’s not going to happen.”

Meanwhile, if you missed The Naughty Room’s premiere on BBC4 in late 2012, the new edition of Think Bigger will give you a second chance to see Cosmo how used his film-making skills on a minimal budget.

“There’s no excuse for finance to be a problem when you want to make a film. As long as I have the equipment I can do it – and over the year of making music videos, I’ve gathered enough equipment for an arsenal of film-making gear, enough to make a film, and now an arsenal to make a film is a lot less than even a year ago,” says Cosmo.

He happens to prefer this form of film-making anyway.

“Hand-held film-making is more truthful – if it’s done the right way with a style of acting that’s hopefully realistic, putting the camera there to film that moment just makes it feel that bit more real. I noticed that from watching people’s films from their student days,” says Cosmo. “It works with how I like to film things, so that it’s flawed, which is what life is like.”

Hence his original choice of album title for Think Bigger. “I wanted to call it The Kind Of Suit You Don’t Want To Be In. I thought that was better as life is a mess, but the record label played safe by using one of the song titles,” he says. “They wanted to eliminate any risks.”

Looking ahead, Cosmo has a “pretty hairy” diary for 2013. Already he has played German dates and next he will be focusing on making his second film, Abandon Hope. “I’ll be acting in this one,” he says.

And yes, he will be writing the script and directing it too.
