DIRECTOR Paul Wright will hold a question-and-answer session after tomorrow night’s 6pm screening of For Those In Peril (18) at City Screen, York.
Presented by New British Cinema Quarterly, Wright’s debut film tells the story of Aaron (George Mackay), the lone survivor of a fishing trip that claimed the lives of five men including his older brother, Michael (Jordan Young).
Unable to remember the details of the trip, and feeling the weight of the community’s collective grief, Aaron finds his sense of helplessness escalating into the belief that Michael and the other men somehow survived.
The cast also features Red Road star Kate Dickie as the brothers’ quietly distraught but protective mother, while Wright’s use of flashbacks and Benjamin Kracun’s slightly washed-out cinematography compound the film’s eerie force as it works towards an almost nightmarish climax.
Produced by Warp, For Those In Peril had its international premiere in the Cannes Critics' Week and its British premiere at Edinburgh International Film Festival.
Bookings can be made on 0871 902 5726 or at picturehouses.co.uk/york
