Revolving Gallery launches its spring collection next Friday at Gray’s Court, “one of York’s best-kept secret venues”, just behind the Minister, in Chapter House Street.

Continuing its promise to provide York with a fresh selection of professional art, the gallery will be showcasing international work by Nikola Orpen, from France, Eva Bauer, from Germany, and Jacob de Graaf, from the Netherlands, alongside the latest works by Andrew Crane, Natalie Bell and Nathan Chenery.

“The variety in style, subject and composition should offer something for everyone’s taste and budget,” says gallery co-founder Rowena Hammon.

This is the second contemporary art show to be run by Revolving Gallery, an event-based gallery whose credo is to “show works of the highest standard in a range of unique venues throughout the year”.

Set up by Elvington print designer Joe Calvert, York St John fine art technician and artist Nathan Chenery, graphic designer Tarot Conway and council events organiser Rowena Hammon, the peripatetic gallery’s first show was held in December in the converted old chapel at York St John and was restricted to one night only.

This time, however, the event will stretch to three days, beginning with a preview next Friday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. All the artists will be on hand to discuss the inspiration and motivation behind their pieces, in keeping with the gallery’s philosophy to have the artwork explained, understood and appreciated.

“If you would like to attend this special event, please reserve a place by emailing info@revolving-gallery.com,” requests Rowena.

Opening hours over the weekend of April 10 and 11 will be 10am to 5pm, when all art lovers and collectors are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
