The Flare Contemporary Art and Craft markets for Christmas 2009 will continue on Sunday in The Chapel at York Cemetery, in Cemetery Road, and finish at Ripley Town Hall, near Harrogate, on December 6.

Organisers Louise Gee, from Poppleton, Kathryn Hick, from York, and Helen Knaggs and Sarah McKenzie, from Pateley Bridge, have gathered more than 20 artists and makers, who will be exhibiting and selling their work at prices ranging from £5 to £200.

Louise will exhibit textiles; Kathryn textiles, jewellery and canvases; Helen, handmade paper; and Sarah, jewellery, at each market.

The founders will be joined at York Cemetery by Jackie Lunn & Jenny Pepper, from Slingsby and Scarborough, felt and textile art; Jilly Lovett, Heslington, accessories made from recycled textiles; Alex Marsaud, Leeds, photography; Fiona Northing, Malton, felt/textile art; Gemma Scully, Cheshire, jewellery; Caryl Hallett, Harrogate, stained glass; and Nicky Dillerstone, Grimsby, felted/knitted work.

Ripley’s line-up will include the founders plus Lunn & Pepper, Skully Northing and Hallett. Emma Straw, from Burley-in-Wharfedale, will contribute vintage accessories; Janet Yau, Harrogate, jewellery; Barbara Cassell, Harrogate, textiles and jewellery; Eric Moss, Harrogate, ceramics; and Bettina Althaller, Clifton, York, recycled bags and accessories, made from salvaged abandoned umbrellas.

Further names are: Sarah Westwood, wax art; Libby Jubb, jewellery; Jacqui & Dee, mosaic glass; Angie Hardwick, ceramic tiles; Julia Smith, paintings, Beverley Gee, ceramics; Jillian Stewart, jewellery; Rebecca Britton, screenprinted accessories; Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre, Knaresborough, various crafts; and Anna Carter, textiles.

Both markets will run from 11am to 4pm; visitors will have the opportunity to talk to the artists about their work and enjoy a cup of tea and a cake in a “relaxing and inspiring atmosphere”.
