MILTON Jones is on the move to the York Barbican with his next show, the imaginatively named On The Road.

After performing Lion Whisperer no fewer than three times at the Grand Opera House last year in separate visits in February, April and October, the “weird bloke with the shirts from Mock The Week” is to try out York pastures new, making his Barbican bow on Friday, February 22, 2013.

Will it be Milton’s paradise found or lost? Only time will tell but he promises a show that will be “clever, surreal but mainly just stupid stupid stupid” when delivering his latest set of surreal and all-too-real one-liners.

Keeping up with Jones, his fellow king of the quick quip, Jimmy Carr, also brought his last show, Laughter Therapy, to the Grand Opera House for three performances, two in October 2010 and a return in June last year.

Unlike Jones, however, he is sticking with the Opera House for his 2012 tour of Jimmy’s tenth solo jaunt, Gagging Order.

“Brand new show, brand new jokes, same old Jimmy,” says Carr “Gagging Order promises to be an hilarious night out... let’s see shall we.”

His June 5 gig will be “packed with one-liners, stories and jokes, some clever, some rude and a few totally unacceptable”.

Both shows will start at 8pm. For Jones tickets, phone 0844 854 2757; for Carr, 0844 871 3024 or book online at atgtickets.com/york
