AMIABLE Irishman Brendan Dempsey headlines tomorrow’s Saturday Night Lounge comedy line-up in the Basement at City Screen, York.

“His relaxed and charming on-stage delivery makes him very much a modern-day Dave Allen, who stands instead of being seated on a stool!” says Hyena Lounge Comedy Club promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

“Famous for being ‘that bloke off the Paddy Power adverts’, Brendan is a wonderful and engaging performer with some brilliant jokes and anecdotes.”

Andre Vincent opens the 8pm show in what is quickly becoming his second home. “One of the best topical comedians in the country, Andre has appeared all over the UK alongside Marcus Brigstocke in The Early Edition, a spin-off from their BBC show The Late Edition,” says Toby.

Bradford-born Ben Schofield returns to the Hyena Lounge to take the middle spot with his distinctive outlook on life and audience-friendly material. “Hugely popular with the York audience every time he plays the club, this gentle giant of a man is certainly going places,” says Toby.

Kevin Dewsbury returns as tomorrow’s compere to ensure the laughter flows all night long. Tickets cost £12 online at hyenalounge.com or on the door from 7.15pm.
