SEVENTEEN apprentices have been hired by Yorkshire Water after beating more than 700 other applicants to the roles.
The apprentices will be located in towns and cities across the region, including York, Harrogate and Scarborough.
Talent manager Shauna Purdey said the company had been impressed by the standard of applications. “There’s clearly a wealth of talented young people out there eager to get that all important role that provides formal training as well as on the job experience,” she said.
Since launching the scheme back in 2010, the company has taken on more than 40 apprentices in a variety of roles.
The programme includes a permanent role from day one, college study, with all apprentices supported by a mentor or buddy from relevant departments.
