STEVEN Larsson’s Olympic handball adventure is nearing its end following a fourth defeat that exposed Great Britain’s inexperience.
A 34-17 loss to Tunisia in group ‘A’ ruled out any chance of reaching the quarter-finals, although Scarborough-born right-back Larsson still has a match to play today when Britain take on Iceland.
His three goals along with five by Sebastien Edgar were among the highlights for the home nation, who at half-time were in touch at 14-8 before the African champions took control.
“That was very tough,” said Larsson, 31.
“They’re a very physical team and it hurt out there. We could have made it closer, but we just weren’t quite good enough. We fought hard but we needed more than that.”
