WHEN lightning set fire to York Minster in 1984 some said it was The Almighty exercising his displeasure.
If that was true then we might expect another bolt from the heavens any day now.
The shocking experience of bell ringers has been followed by equally unchristian conduct towards teachers and parents at Minster School.
And now alcohol is being sold as a commercial venture in the back yard of York’s biggest house of God.
The Dean and Chapter might be wise to have an open line to the fire brigade 24/7.

Lord Mayors Walk, York
