READING the front page story in Monday’s Press (“Child obesity soars in York”, May 14) reminds me of a conversation I had over 20 years ago with my next door neighbour’s grandchildren over from America.

Asking them what they thought was the biggest difference between America and England I expected them to say something along the lines of narrow roads, old buildings, smaller cars etc.

I was taken aback when they answered: “There are no fat people over in England.”

Isn’t it funny how things change?
