At Brass Castle Taphouse, they celebrate great beer.

Their Malton residence means they are part of Yorkshire’s Food Capital – and serving equally as good beverages.

What’s more, every beer is brewed on-site in what they say is a “rolling showcase” of their stock.

Brass Castle was officially set up in 2014 and thrives off innovation, winning awards for their creations ever since.

Brand Guardian, Kev Jones said: “Our flagship beer is a vanilla porter called Bad Kitty, which has won more beer festival awards than we’ve been able to keep count of.

“It was a finalist in the Champion Beer Of Britain competition. It’s rich, chocolatey and often described by folks as ‘dessert in a glass’.”

Their wide range of gluten free and vegan beers are hard to come by anywhere else in Ryedale.

From their more traditional Northern Blonde to more experimental creations such as kettle-soured beer infused with basil & sun-blushed tomato.

Kev added: “Our IPA brewed with seaweed recently featured on an episode of The Hairy Bikers Go North.”

The team are thankful for “huge amounts of local support” after they had to reduce their business during lockdown.

“All efforts were channelled into supply through our webshop and we quickly implemented a free door-to-door delivery service within the YO17 postcode, later expanding this to include York, Scarborough, Hull, and surrounding areas.

“Being fortunate enough to have our own canning line, we also offered use of this to a couple of fellow brewers in the area to help with their efforts at staying afloat.

“The reception we got when we were able to reopen our doors was truly wonderful!”

Community is important to Brass Castle and they enjoy the “great local community vibe”. They even share this with canine friends.

“We can’t iterate enough how much we cherish our regulars, and in many cases the doggies who accompany them.

“A highlight in our short time has been our celebration of ‘Bring Your Dog To The Pub Day’, during which we were so inundated with waggy tails we completely lost count!”

Guests to the Taphouse and Brewery aren’t just of the four legged kind.

Bristol-based rock band, Idles, visited the brewery in 2017 before their gig in York.

“None of us knew at the time that they would shortly be performing sold-out world tours, rocking Glastonbury Festival, or hitting number 1 spot in the UK album charts!”

Brass Castle Brewery and its Taphouse is very much embedded into the Malton community and they are proud to be part of it.

“We’re proud to be part of the rich tapestry of Yorkshire’s Food Capital, offering a taste of Malton, for the good folks of Malton and beyond.”
