MEMBERS of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance made a detour to RAF Linton-on-Ouse to receive a cheque for £2,000.
The Children’s Charity Fancy Dress Ball raised more than £4,000 and the proceeds were split between the air ambulance and the Combat Stress charity.
There to present the cheque was Charlotte Leighton, of Tollerton, whose life was saved four years ago by the swift action of the paramedics.
She was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary, where she underwent pioneering surgery after being knocked down by a car.
Her family now raises funds for the organisation that saved her life. They are planning to organise a sponsored walk in the spring in aid of the air ambulance and will walk the exact distance the helicopter flew the day of her accident from Tollerton to Leeds, which is 18.6 miles.
