STAFF at York’s Tata Steel Projects have raised £1,625 for York Street Angels.
The design and manafacturing firm in The Crescent, off Blossom Street, held bake sales and dress-down days as part of their fundraising.
Hayley Cowell, from the firm, said: “We chose to support Street Angels as it’s a local charity that is close to a lot of people’s hearts.”
Dick Syms, fundraiser and volunteer for Street Angels, said: “We’re very thankful to the staff at Tata Steel Projects for raising such a great sum. We have recently purchased a minibus that requires painting and equipping and this money will go towards that.”
Street Angels York is a church-led initiative which sees volunteers walk the city streets into the early hours on Friday and Saturday nights caring for, practically helping and listening to people, especially those in vulnerable or difficult situations.
