NOW that fracking, regrettably, has finally commenced in the UK, I feel it is important to draw attention to two consultations the Government is holding.

The first is to make non-hydraulic shale gas exploration “permitted development”, which will allow fracking companies to bypass the local planning process. This will enable companies to build football pitch-sized concrete pads all over our countryside - see https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/permitted-development-for-shale-gas-exploration

The second is consultation over categorising fracking as a “Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project”, which will give powers of compulsory purchase and access to any land they want - see https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/inclusion-of-shale-gas-production-projects-in-the-nationally-significant-infrastructure-project-nsip-regime

The public have until October 25 to respond to these consultations. Please take the time to respond and tell the Government these plans are unacceptable: don’t leave it to others!
