I WAS fascinated with reader Peter Rickaby’s description of EU politicians (Letters, July 24).
His final paragraph read: “Just think how much better it could be if we were not being led by weak, unprincipled fork-tongued politicians whose only interest is themselves.”
I couldn’t agree more with you Peter, you have just described our present shower who are running (down) our country at this very moment showing their true blue colour.

Letter writer’s ‘better for worse’ curse
LIKE President Trump, Peter Rickaby (Letters, July 24) seems to have misspoken.
When he said that the UK economy had performed BETTER than all the other EU member states since the referendum he clearly meant to say WORSE than all the other member states. Check the figures.

Second referendum is needed on Brexit
LAST Saturday, I read an article by Justine Greening MP and found that I was in full agreement.
As the population of the UK appears to be very badly split on what they require of Brexit - and not just split along political lines, which I think is quite normal - I now think that there should be another referendum. Not another ‘advisory referendum’ but one where the Government of the day (whoever is in power) is fully committed to the binding result.
The referendum should be held at the conclusion of the Brexit negotiations and should have three choices: 1 Accept the result of the negotiations, 2 Revert to a No Deal and leave on WTO Rules, 3 Remain in the EU.
I also believe the electorate should have two votes, for their first and second choice.
