SCORES of festive music fans gathered in York for a special Christmas concert this weekend.

A Christmas To Remember was performed at St Michael Le Belfrey on Saturday by Millegro & Prima Vocal Ensemble.

The concert included traditional songs, including Gaudete, In The Bleak Midwinter and The Holly and The Ivy, and more recent songs including Nightmare Before Christmas and Santa Baby.

Artist director Ewa Salecka said the concert would round off an amazing year for the two groups, with members of Millegro performing at a Spanish choral festival and members of Prima invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Ewa said: "It has been an incredible year for our choirs. They have performed their own stunning concerts across York, raised money for local and international causes and been involved in hugely successful joint projects.

"This summer the Tour de France came to town and both choirs performed together to hundreds of delighted audience members at York Theatre Royal for Le Grand Depart."

Next year, a new concert band and chamber choir will start, with volunteers needed to start rehearsals in mid January to February.
