CHAOS reigned at a York supermarket this week, as the cast of Old Mother Goose took a shopping trip.

Berwick Kaler, Martin Barrass, Suzy Cooper and David Leonard were rolling in the aisles of Tesco Extra in Tadcaster Road to collect a festive supply of Wagon Wheels for this year's York Theatre Royal pantomime.

This year, the supermarket has donated 4,500 of the sweet treats to the production, which will be handed out during Old mother Goose's run by York's favourite pantomime dame Berwick Kaler.

Janine Hopkins from Tesco said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be supporting Berwick and the cast of this year’s pantomime Old Mother Goose. Here at Tesco, Christmas is a special time of the year for all the staff, their families and most importantly our customers.

"We are extremely passionate about supporting all the traditions of a family Christmas and for many here in York that includes a visit to York Theatre Royal’s legendary pantomime."

This year's panto runs from December 11 until January 31, and sees the return of classic villain David Leonard - fresh from West End success playing Miss Trunchbull in Matilda.

Tickets cost from £11 to £28.50 and can be bought at the box office, by phoning 01904 623568, or online at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk
